The Africa Blue Economy Summit
Investing in Africa’s Blue Future
The Africa Blue Economy Summit is a Pan-African thought leadership, investment, and research platform convening key players in the Blue Economy. We bring together investors, financiers, island and coastal state leadership, researchers, and stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and drive sustainable development.
The blue economy is not only about the maritime space but also about inland fresh waters
such as lakes and rivers. These also provide ample opportunity for BE economic sectors,
such as aquaculture, renewable energy, water-related eco and cultural tourism,
transportation etc, to develop and flourish. This means that BE is also relevant to many
landlocked countries, e.g. Malawi, Zambia, Uganda and others with large freshwater bodies
and rivers.

Five Pillars of the Blue Economy
Lead Thematic Areas
Investor Friendly Policies & Regulatory Framework
We address the critical need for clear national policies, strategies, and legislation to create an enabling environment for Blue Economy investments, helping countries learn from best practices to attract capital.
Blue Economy Infrastructure Investments
The Summit highlights the necessity of robust infrastructure, including port facilities, roads, electricity, and internet, to support all marine economic activities and foster an investor-friendly environment.
Adequate & Concessionary Financing
We explore solutions for securing sufficient and reasonably priced financing, including commercial loans, while emphasizing the crucial role of an enabling environment and security. The Summit also addresses the unique funding needs of SMEs.
Incubator Programmes
Governments are encouraged to establish incubators for young entrepreneurs in Blue Economy sectors, recognizing their distinct needs and potential to drive innovation and impact.
Research and Data
Essential government investment in research is crucial to identify relevant and sustainable Blue Economy activities for each country, providing vital data for investors and particularly informing emerging sectors like aquaculture.
